Cut2D Overview                         Etusivulle

What is Cut2D?

  • Cut2D converts CAD DXF and graphics designs to GCode / CNC Toolpaths for machining high quality parts and components.

  • Affordable, easy to use software that's very functional and creates high quality CNC toolpaths for virtually all CNC machines.

  • Automatic cutter diameter compensation, machines designs precisely to size without having to worry about manually offseting geometry for the cutter being used.

  • Fantastic, high quality colour shaded 3D Preview with realistic material types that show exactly what the job will look like when machined.

  • Based on Vectric's world class VCarve Pro technology, Cut2D is a precision CNC Toolpath engine.

“I’m using Cut2D to machine radio controlled models drawn by my son and the results off the mill are great!

The software is very easy to use and the 3D toolpath preview provides an in-depth visualization of the machining process and the finished parts before running the machine.”

What does Cut2D do?

  • Automatically converts CAD drawings and Graphic designs to GCode / CNC Toolpaths.
  • Opens most industry standard 2D vector drawing formats DXF, EPS, AI & PDF file formats.
  • Pocket Machining with either raster or offset machining patterns, plus the option to ramp the cutter into the material.
  • Profile Machining-running the cutter around the outside, inside or on the selected geometry, with the option to ramp the cutter into the material.
  • Automatic cutter diameter compensation for toolpaths ensures parts are cut to the required size. Simply select the shapes and Cut2D compensates for the cutter diameter and shape.
  • Interactive Tab / Bridge placement to ensure parts are securely held in place when cutting from sheet material.
  • Automatic calculation for Outside and Inside cutting when multiple shapes are selected.
  • The option to Ramp the cutter into the job is very important when cutting hard materials because it reduces the load on the bottom of the cutter.
  • Drilling with option for Peck drilling cycle.
  • 3D Colour and 2D wireframe toolpaths Previews shows exactly what the part will look like when machined.

I run a home made CNC machine and have demo’d many CAM programs but never found one that was as functional and affordable as Cut2D!

Cut2D is very simple to use, amazingly fast at calculating toolpaths for even my most complex parts and the CNC toolpath files run perfectly on my machine. I was able to import DXF files, toolpath them, post to Mach3 and cut them with confidence on my CNC machine.

The bottom line is Cut2D has all the functionality I need at a price I can afford and gets the job done perfectly!

Cut2D - Features

The Cut2D interface is very easy to understand and includes
the following design and machining functionality:

Design & Drawing Tools

  • Open or Import industry standard file formats DXF, EPS,
AI & PDF files that contain vector data

  • Work in Inches or Metric units

  • Fix open shapes to make them continuous and machinable profiles This is a typical problem with many DXF designs that are constructed from separate entities.

  • Automatically identify and select duplicate shapes in a file
This is a typical problem when working with designs from older sign making packages.

  • Text entry using any True Type Fonts installed on the PC.

  • Drawing Tools for standard shapes - Rectangles, Circles and Ovals with interactive sizing and positioning.

  • Scaling and Positioning interactively using the mouse or with precise typed input.
  • Quick alignment of the design inside the material block or relative to other shapes

  • Interactive, quick and easy Node, Point and Span editing.

  • Measure distances, angles, radiuses and object properties

  • Export 2D designs as DXF, EPS, AI for use in other software.

CNC Functionality

  • Profile machine around the Outside, Inside or On the selected shapes with automatic compensation for the cutter shape & diameter even when using angled engraving cutters.
  • Tabs also called Bridges can be added interactively to Profile toolpaths to ensure parts are held in place during machining. Tabs are essential when cutting parts out of sheet material.
  • Control where to start cutting and the option to ramp the cutter into the material which is very important when cutting hard materials.

  • Pocket machining with options for Offset or Raster cutting.

  • All toolpaths include the option for multiple Z passes and ramping the cutter into the material.

  • 3D Solid model toolpath preview that shows what material each toolpath will remove, with options to display the preview in various material types and an optional colour to indicate where material has been removed.

  • 2D Wireframe Preview of each toolpath showing cut direction that instantly shows where the cutter will machine.

  • Tool Database for quick and easy cutter selection. The Tool Database also stores your own tooling information with the cutting parameters – speeds, feed rates, tool number etc.

  • Postprocessor's for virtually all industry standard CNC control systems

Mach3, GCode, ISO, Fanuc, Flashcut, HPGL, PLT, WinCNC, XYZ, DeskCNC, ShopBot, TurboCNC, EMC + many others.
